Store Setup Guide

A proper setup ensures accurate gait analysis, smooth workflows for staff, and a high-quality experience for your customers.

Use the following guidelines when preparing your store for Ochy.

1. Technology & Hardware Requirements

To operate Ochy reliably in a retail environment, ensure the following:

  • Connectivity & Devices:

    • Stable WiFi or mobile data.

    • One device to capture the videos (phone or tablet).

    • One device to review results with customers (tablet or computer recommended).

      • These can be the same device or two separate devices as long as both are logged in to the same Ochy account.

  • Treadmill Requirements:

    • Flat treadmills are recommended.

    • Curved treadmills alter natural foot landing and reduce analysis accuracy.

  • Camera Setup:

    • Use the back camera and set recording to 60fps or higher (check device settings).

    • Mount the device when possible — a tripod provides optimal stability.

    • Handheld recording is acceptable if the device is kept steady and still.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Test video quality and framing before starting.

    • Send a sample video to your Ochy contact if you want the team to validate your setup.

2. Setup Environment & Recording Guidelines

Create a consistent and well-prepared recording environment:

  • Place treadmill or testing area in a well-lit zone, avoiding strong backlight or distracting backgrounds.

  • For treadmill analysis, use portrait orientation only (vertical).

    • For back-view analysis, position the camera at least 1 meter behind.

    • For side-view analysis, position the camera at least 2 meters next to the treadmill.

  • Camera height should be at or around hip level of the runner.

  • The device must be positioned centrally behind the runner — not angled left or right.

  • Ensure the runner’s full body is visible from head to toe.

  • Ask runners to avoid baggy clothing to ensure optimal computer vision tracking.

    • Make sure the runner knows their height and weight for analysis personalization.

    • Include these notes in confirmation emails for pre-booked appointments.

  • Recording Requirements:

    • Record around 5 seconds (maximum 10 seconds; longer clips can be trimmed in-app).

    • Maximum running speed: 4:00/km for analysis accuracy.
